Napa Valley Lodging: Our Recommendations

Napa Valley Lodging

When you’re planning your trip to Napa, you’re probably going to focus on the wineries first, and that’s not a bad thing. But don’t forget that you’ll want a comfortable and centrally-located place to rest your head.

Napa Valley spans 30 miles long and only a few miles wide, but you have quite a few Napa Valley lodging options, and some are better than others.

Napa Valley Bed and Breakfasts

There are many ways you can experience Napa Valley, and we want each journey to be a personal one. So, if you’re looking for a more homey experience, you’ll want to stick with one of the area bed and breakfasts or choose to rent an AirBnB.

If you opt for a typical bed and breakfast, you have some great options. Here are our best recommendations in various price ranges.

Brannan Cottage Inn

This six-room in is just north of Napa in the town of Calistoga. It was originally built in 1862 by Samuel Brannan, and sits on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it’s an older structure, your cozy room in this gingerbread-style Victorian cottage will come with a private bathroom and its own fireplace. You’ll also have a mini-fridge, complimentary Wi-Fi and a flat screen television. All this within walking distance of downtown Calistoga.

If you want to experience all the perks of staying in the prestigious Meadowood Napa Valley without the hefty bill, consider staying at its sister property, Southbridge Napa Valley.

Southbridge is a sweet bed and breakfast that stands on its own merits, but we can’t ignore he fact that staying here affords you on-property access to Meadowood perks like golf, tennis and pro-level croquet.

Southbridge Napa Valley is in the heart of St. Helena within walking distance of wineries and fine dining. Each room has a king-size bed and a fireplace, and there’s a health spa adjacent to the property.

Auberge du Soleil tops out most lists of the best places to stay in Napa Valley, so it’s natural that we start off with this recommendation. You should know that this is a luxury hotel that comes with many amenities and a price tag to match.

You’ll find Auberge du Soleil in the quiet town of Rutherford amidst a backdrop of stunning vistas. On site, you’ll find a spa, pool, sculpture garden and a well-equipped fitness center. But its central location isn’t Vintage House’s only draw. The guest rooms at the Vintage House are among the most beautiful in the Napa Valley. Andaz Napa is a 4-star hotel in the center of downtown Napa, just a short stroll from the Oxbow Pubic Market. It’s the location that draws people in to Andaz, but after their stay, they rave about the guest rooms that feature hickory hardwood floors, white marble bathrooms and 42-inch flat-screen televisions. While you’re here, enjoy the complimentary wine tastings, self-parking and Wi-Fi. When you start planning your Napa Valley vacation, location is important. You may want to spend a little extra to stay within walking distance of fine dining and local wineries. This way, you can spend at least one day exploring the area around your lodging and don’t have to worry about who’s going to drive after that last wine tasting. You are here to enjoy yourself, after all.

Choose a hotel if you’re looking for amenities, like a spa and pool. But if you’re looking to cozy up in front of a fireplace with your honey after a romantic day of hot air ballooning and wine tasting, a bed and breakfast is where it’s at. Customize your experience by choosing the right Napa Valley lodging.
