Nestled in the north-eastern hillside above Napa Valley lies a hidden gem, Pope Valley Winery, producing premium wines from Napa Valley Winding through picturesque fields, undulating vineyards, and oak-studded hills, one gets the feeling of being transported back in time, heading northeast away from the Silverado Trail.
Pope Valley Winery seems to transport you back in time with the original hand-dug cave, complete with hand-hewn redwood timbers. The original farmhouse still graces the property, as well as a blacksmith’s workshop, complete with tools of the trade. Our tasting room is welcoming without pretense, offering a number of limited-production, winery-only releases.
The goal is not just to provide an escape from the rest of the Valley but to actually make you forget there is anywhere else at all. As you can tell, Pope Valley the Area and Pope Valley the winery are very much alike: both are the true, authentic “Old Napa” which so many people come to in search of. Well, like all good things, it takes a bit of time, and a willingness to step away from where everyone is headed, in order to find, but when you do, the results are all you imagined and more.

Hill Family Estate Winery
Hill Family Estate was born out of the desire for a family to work together. Third-generation farmer Doug Hill grew prunes and apples along the Russian River before moving to the Napa Valley in the 1970s to manage vineyards. During the 1980s and 1990s Doug began acquiring vineyards of his own as well as leasing land and has now grown grapes for more than forty prominent wineries including Silver Oak, Far Niente, Quintessa and Cakebread to name a few.
We invite you to visit our estate winery in the Yountville appellation, surrounded by vineyard and mountain views. Taste through an array of Hill Family Estate wines and learn more about our legacy as farmers in California. Located just minutes from the town of Yountville on Solano Avenue north of Hoffman Lane, our estate is open for wine tastings daily by advance appointment.
